If you look at the drafts rockets could have selected thru these years who would you have taken? I personally think they hit good with Amen Thompson and Sengun, But honestly would have drafted Barnes and if i did this i would of drafted Trey because of the need at SG. They needed a Center at the time. 9 times out ten you probably take Sengun. Which was smart Houston trading for him. Yet they could of waited for 22 for Duren. PG - Stephon Castle 24 Andrew Nembhard 22 Quentin Grimes 21 SG - Trey Murphy III 21, Christian Braun 22 SF - Scotie Barnes 21, Cameron Thomas 21 PF - Amen Thompson 23 Noah Clowney 23 C - Jalen Duren 22 Quinten Post 24 Derik Queen 25 Yet Rockets possible team if drafted perfectly. Pretty impressive .
Honestly if we did a redraft it wouldn't be much better than what we have. Lets take Castle who would just be micromanaged by FVV and Ime. Trey Murphy would be slightly more offensively consistent worse defensively Jabari. I think the draftees are fine. Who was there at any of our spots that is a star or superstar? Anyone? Of the drafts we've had high picks on, if which there have been FOUR, there was exactly two premier draft picks in Cade and Wemby. Amen Thompson is probably Top 5 of the players drafted in the last 4 or 5 years. Everyone else has been unimpressive outside of maybe JDub and Chet and theyre both just role players. Even funnier still if these same players ended up on other teams. What would they look like? Ime was just the wrong coach for development. This team sorta feels like that last bootleg Morey team starting PJ Tucker at center where theyre just throwing **** at the wall to see if it sticks.
Also you have to think of salary cap obligations as well when drafting (can you afford everyone).Castle and Amen going to cost you a arm and leg in the cap... That team I posted.up there might not fit the salary cap, would wind up letting people leave after their rookie contract is up, based on contract negotiations.
