That's class, I've been wanting to wander into single malt territory for a while now, haven't been able to make the commitment at the liquor store.

It's an acquired taste (like most booze). If you already like scotch, make the leap. You won't regret it. If you're not familiar with it, find a decent bar with a bartender who knows his s**t. It'll help you develop the appreciation for what you're tasting.

And please, pleasepleaseplease, don't shoot good whiskey.

12-year Macallan is cheap as hell for a single malt (like $40/bottle) and tastes great.

Big fan of the 12-year Balvenie Doublewood as well, which usually comes in under $40.

I've become a huge fan of single-malts over the last several years, it's what I drink the most now by a mile. Hard to believe I used to drink Johnnie Walker Black Label and other common blended scotches... I find most of them undrinkable now.

I'll also occasionally go for some classic Jack-and-Coke or Rum-and-Coke action if I'm feeling something sweeter. Pineapple or mango rum can be a nice change of pace as well.

The Balvenie is a good one. For other reasonably priced singles, I also like Laphroiag and Lagavulin. Lagavulin is super smoky, and I've heard Laphroiag described as "phenolic", which if you've ever worked with Phenol you'd think was disgusting. But I think it's interesting, and pretty tasty.

for drinks, I've been liking the Negroni lately.

And for just a go-to mixer to drink, I've been going with the old Bourbon and Ginger.

agreed on the Balvenie. But my #1 is Glennfiddich. If I can't have Glennfiddich or Balvenie, Ill settle for Chivas or Jameson.

I don't know much about alcoholic beverages as I'm only 13.5 YO, but I do enjoy a mixture of Coconut-Orange juice.
