Seeing that ESPN's latest Mock Draft has us picking Michael Bradley at #18 got me thinking about Jason Collier, who I consider to be a very similar player. I would not want to have both on the roster. It just seems redundant.

Anyway, does anyone know what he's been doing since rehab-ing from surgery? Please, no jokes (ok, maybe some). But seriously, does anyone know if he's gotten himself in shape? Remember, Collier got injured last summer and never got a chance to get in playing shape last year. He played limited minutes, started to be somewhat effective as a backup, then was lost for the season.

I'm not ready to give up on him just yet. If he's in shape, I think Collier could be a valuable asset to this club. He's a legit 7-footer who has range. That's a prized commodity, especially now with the zone coming in. While I'm not saying he should play big minutes or anything, he'd still be a solid big man off the bench. If we could dump Cato (who I might also want to give one last chance to), Collier could do a decent job in a bigger role this year. Again, that's IF he's in shape. Anyone know if he is???

The last report I heard on him was that he could not have played if we had made the playoffs. That was about a month and a half ago or so.

I agree Collier looked good when he had that stretch of healthy and in-shape games. I remember a game where he made Shaq work a little harder than usual on defense. He could definitely be a big help off the bench if he can get back in shape.

Anyone have more current info on Collier?

I saw him at the Sam's Boat at the Fountains in Sugar Land, about 4 weeks ago, with his girlfriend (which was pretty fine). He seemed to be walking around ok, but I could not tell if he was hurt or not. He is probably is ok by now, I hope.
