I have to tell my possible future employer today if I want the job or not. This is all contingent upon passing a drug test (no problem) and passing the damn background check (kind of a problem I mentioned a few weeks back).

    Do I:

    1. come clean and tell them BEFORE they do the check

    or

    2. wait until after they run the check and explain the circumstance then??

FYI It was a criminal trespassing charge that was dropped after I did community service.

Tell them after. Have a good explanation just in case.

If it was dropped, it more than likely won't show up during your background check. Believe me....I had a couple of items on my record from when I lived in LA where they were supposed to be dropped after summary probation was completed, and I had no problem getting a couple of jobs in the last 5 years since I moved back.

Tell them after. Misdemeanors don't stay on your record for long, do they? I would not even worry about it.

Beats the hell out of me. It sucks because I happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time - same old story I know.

My initial thought was to not tell, because there is no point to fessing up to something that may not even be there when they pull my background info...... but alas I had second thoughts...

I would tell them after, but have a damned good story/excuse, in case they ask why you didn't disclose the info earlier.

I wouldn't say anything until they bring it up.

Don't you remember that it was a bogus charge to begin with, and that you and your family lawyer worked to have that removed from your records? If it's still on your record, which it shouldn't since it was dropped, AND you worked with a lawyer, you have to roll some heads.

    Know what I mean?

Do not tell them. Wait until they bring it up. Especially if you were not found guilty.

Yep I went ahead and told her without coming clean first.

Im pretty good with explanations and such.

She said it was a criminal history check based off of Social Security number. I dont think it will be a problem......

DO NOT TELL THEM!!!!!! If you tell them then you know for certain that they find out. If you dont tell them your odds are good that they never find out. This is from personal experience. I have never ever had anyone find out about my skeletons except for one employer and that was because the FBI did the background checks.

Was it a Class A, B, or C misdemeanor? I think A and B are high and will stick on your record, won't it? If it does, can't it be seen by the employer?

"You see what had happened was..."

Tell them that your LAWYER said not to mention it, because it had been taken care of.

If you want me to run your criminal history, e-mail me cop2comic@aol and I will check it for you.

    Before 5pm.

    "I needed the money."

I think it will be cool. Im pretty sure its still on there though.

When I signed up for Big Brothers/Big Sisters they did a background check and it showed up - that was about 2 years ago.

AB- When you coming back to Austin?
