Well, I got a call last night that our business would be open today, so here I am, in downtown NYC, a few blocks south of what's left of the WTC. The 4/5 this morning was crawling with police. I even heard (after getting to work, mind you) that there was a bomb scare on the subway this morning. Luckily, I wasn't around for that. I already got involved with the Empire State Building bomb scare a few days ago when my fiancee, who lives close to it, hastily packed a bag to stay at my place that evening while I frantically searched the news for any word on the bomb threat. Anyway, at the Bowling Green station, there were many cops and a couple camera crew. The subway crowds were pretty big, but everybody was patient. The usual look of depression on the faces of the 4/5 passengers was that of trepidation (... and yes, also depression). The dust has, for the most part, been cleaned up, although there is still a little left on the ground. You can hear the debris-hauling trucks and other assorted construction noises from outside my office, which is somewhat eerie. While the air in our building smells of dust, the outside air isn't too bad. All in all, things have calmed down here...
