Someone mentioned he was a Rocket once. Was he any good as a player? He is one of the radio talk show host in Salt Lake City, and he sucks bad at it. Guy thinks he knows everything about NBA basketball, but in fact he is almost always wrong. Last Friday, the afternoon before the Rockets clinched, he predicted the Rockets will continue to lose and not make it to the playoffs. Denver and Portland would get the final two spots in his opinion. If he said that a week before, it might have been acceptable, but it just showed he doesn't do any research before he runs his mouth. I know most of you don't care, but for those of you who do, tell me how Pace Mannion did as a player.

Pace Mannion may have been the ugliest player to play in the early 1980s, and that's saying something. I'd go to Google to find a picture, but frankly, I just ate and I'm wantin' to keep it down.
Over a scintillating 6-season career, Pace averaged 3.1 ppg on 41% shooting for Golden State, Utah, New Jersey, Milwaukee, and Atlanta. Though many questioned the talent of this admittedly spastic rail-thin stud, he inspired thousands with his absurdist performance art hustle. He would hustle after the whistle, dive for balls that were not loose, and attempt to make steals that were definitively impossible. "Pace! Pace! He's our Mannion! If he can't do it... He's our Mannion!"
I remember going to Rockets games in the mid to late 80's. When the team he played for came into town the Pace Manion fan club would show up rooting for him. The fans were funny and loud. I thought he must have been from Houston. I don't remeber him ever getting off the bench when he was here though.
Is that really him? The one picture I have of him is in Zander Hollander's 1986 NBA Handbook, and he looks like his face is put together from spare parts, complemented by a giant pair of eyebrows and a horrid mustache.
