Anyone know of good places to buy old video games here in Houston.. I'm looking for Old NES Sega Saturn DreamCast And PS1 GameStop/EB and GameCrazy are the main stores around town and they don’t really have anything that old.. any ideas? The closer to Katy the better...
I would look on Ebay. I just bought and Original NES system with 5 games and everything for about 80 bucks. Definently make sure with the NES that you get one with a new 72 Pin installed so the games play fine. A lot of the people that sell them online are refurbishers and actually make sure all the games and contacts are properly cleaned and updated with the new parts so they work perfectly. Im not sure if the game stores do all that to ensure the quality of the system.
Thanks Stack, I have most of the systems and I do buy on e-bay when I can, but buying only selective titles kills me with shipping.. I would love to find a store with a bunch of the old games to see what is out there without having to pay for inflated shipping from e-bay sellers...
Sorry i totally mis read your post thinking you were talking about the system. Here is a couple places i found. They seem to have a good selection. This place has almost all the sytems and games : http://www.playerschoicevideogames.com/cat_games.cfm They have 419 NES games and i checked the other systems...they have a good number.
Try regular game stores like Gamestop or EB Games, they don't have a HUGE selection but they have a pretty decent selection and sell for cheap.
Thanks for the link Stack, I'll be buying from them soon.. I ran around town today and picked up a few games that I have been looking for, it seems GameCrazy is the better choice for older games.. I need to get my ass back to College Station and hit up that vintage game store in Post Oak mall
EB Games is the only place I know of that still carries Dreamcast/PS1 stuff. As for Saturn, don't waste your time looking. As Stack said, ebay is going to be your best bet for anything pre-PlayStation. Sure, some sellers may inflate the shipping, but the fact that you are bidding against other collectors makes it fairer for you rather than GameStop or whoever just deciding that Dragon Warrior IV is worth $95, cart only. I just got a nice Turbografx 16/Turbo CD bundle off there a few months ago.
Once in a while you can find NES/Atari games at places like Value Village/Savers. The people there usually don't know what they are worth so they are priced pretty low.
That is why God made emulators. Years ago I bought a NES with about 25 games complete with boxes, manuals, etc for about $70. I eventually sold them all off on ebay for about triple that. I've thought about getting another one for personal use, but emulators make it so much more reasonable.
by far ebay is the cheapest for old games systems. I bought an n64 with 10 games including classics like goldeneye and smash brothers for 25 bucks plus shipping.
Oh yeah, I'm completely with you on that. But CD rips aren't as easy to track down or as short a download as old NES or Genesis roms. Not for me at least.
