First time since 1978 that Miami, Florida State and Florida lost on the same weekend.

I tried to tell people (Mr. Mooch who goes there) that this year's Miami team is not that good, at least not NC caliber.

It had been the offense but for the last 3 games, the defense has been very un-Miami like.

The problem is that Miami plays a base 4-3 defense with 2 deep safeties. Well that defense is great against teams that have classic drop-back passers; but is useless against teams that have QBs that can run.

But for whatever reason, Miami and their coaches refuse to change their defense to something else - mainly something that can stop the other team's offense.

I am glad, believe it or not, that they lost as I could see them getting into the NC game and getting embarrassed, but now I won't have to worry about that.

Yet it sucks to get beat by a team that got absolutely rolled by Utah.:(

    Oh well...go RED SOX!!!!!!!!!!

    Yes.

    Sam Houston State 31
    Stephen F Austin 28

SHSU is now 7-1 and ranked #7 in the I-AA ESPN Poll. :D

That's right...go Kats! Hell of a game. I bet SHSU could give A&M a run for their money.

Well the defense was nowhere to be found; absolutely pathetic and it wasn't even Berlin's fault.

I mean I knew Miami was struggling and the 3 touchdown margin prediction was a joke, but I still never would have imagined Miami losing a game to UNC. There was no excuse for their performace. The defense was atrocious throughout the game.

The first half was no surprise, but the assumption was they would come back in the second (which they did) but couldn't stop them if their life depended on it.

    Well, at least TAMU lost.

As a Cal fan, this was a huge game for me. As was Maryland's upset of FSU.

It boggles my mind to think that Cal -- freaking Cal Berkeley -- is going to be in the Top Five this week.

A&M could have really used Dustin Long yesterday, that's for sure.

This game REALLY surprised me. Everyone was making jokes about the biggest upset in history, but that's all they were -- jokes. Our offense has been pretty on par this season thus far, but defense is a completely different story.

I was amazed to see how well our D actually played. First time Miami doesn't get 100 rushing yards in game -- that's impressive  It seemed like nothing Miami did work, except for the slant play down the middle. Those were open all game. I don't know much about Miami, but the QB didn't impress me at all.

UNC's offense was just stellar. Scott was playing with a hip pointer and ran for 175 yards vs. MIAMI. Remember, this is the team that lost to DUKE last year. Little bit of a turn around there. It was fun to see Scott work though, lots of ankles need to be taped after that game :D

    Bottom line: UNC 31, #4 Miami 28.

Welcome to the ACC Miami, just wait till basketball season ;)

Or how about UTEP winning to go to 6-2 and move into the AP Top 25 for the first time since 1988?!?!?

Bottom line is that Miami was not that good in the first place but congratulations on the win. UNC deserved it.

Nope, it's all the colleges that don't pay their players. And we actually decide our National Champion ON the field, not with a bunch of computers. :)
