CD Cover Eerily Mirrors What Happened In NY

The horrifying scenes of Tuesday's terrorist attacks are indelibly etched in most Americans' memories, but they have an eerie familiarity to a local rap group.

A CD cover Mike Harris and Arquses Dillard released weeks ago matches what happened in New York.

The CD has been available in area music stores since late July, but the rappers maintain that they had nothing to do with the disturbing artwork featured on the album's cover.

They told News2Houston that it was merely a coincidence.

The cover shows the World Trade Centers Twin Towers being hit with a large explosive in the middle, much like what happened Tuesday.

Many Houstonians are wondering how the CD cover can match what happened and so, too, are Harris and Dillard.

"Seeing what's happening and looking at my album cover, a lot of people are telling me, man, that's crazy," Harris said.

They told KPRC that they had the New York skyline featuring the WTC's towers in mind for their CD, which is filled with violent and profanity-laden music.

The cover art has made some in Houston quite angry, including an ex-marine.

"This is ugly," Louis Lovey said. "I mean, I'm a patriot. I served my country and this hurts me when this happens. This is cruel."

In the meantime, Soundwaves is looking into the controversial CD cover and may see fit to pull it from store shelves, and the CD cover artist and the rap group have appointments with investigators Thursday morning.

That is just a horrible coincidence. I don't know why they even bothered making a cover like that in the first place though. Then again is it anymore horrible then movies showing important places and people exploding and dying? Either way he has some explaining to do!

Never printed, check out the labels' website @ 75ark.com...

    From The Staff of 75ARK:

The original cover artwork for the Coup album, Party Music, was created long before the tragic events of September 11.

75ARK recognizes the importance of artistic freedom. However, recent extraordinary events demand that we create new artwork for the album. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone whom this tragedy has touched.

The physical cover of the album has never been printed. The cover artwork exists mostly as a web image. We ask that all web supporters and fans of the Coup and 75ARK to discourage any further distribution of this image. We appreciate all your continued support during this indescribable time.

    The Staff of 75ARK.
