I'm not sure how Ming is in the bag yet - the deadline is still there. The Rockets told China they had to know by Monday, and reports show that his agents are "scrambling around" trying to get everything done. My question is, what if the deadline passes? Do you think the Rockets are really serious about not taking him? Let's say they get the OK from China Tuesday morning, or even afternoon - do they still not draft him? Thoughts? Insight?
I was wondering the same thing. All the talk is about Steve, but it really won't matter if Yao doesn't come in the first place.
FIBA has to send the letter to the NBA saying he can be drafted. There is no dickering around with that, that is supposed to be a formality. Once that is done then he is 100% through all the BS. Supposedly that letter will be given on Monday morning. There has not been any indication that this will be a problem. Chris
I thought that China had not sent the letter to FIBA, and that has to happen before FIBA can send a letter to the NBA.
yeah, I'm not celebrating til I hear word of official confirmation of him being in the draft. It's not a done deal til then. was hoping that's what I was going to hear yesterday.
