I have a couple of DVDs of home events. Basically parties/weddings that were made by my friends and some company we hired. I want to make couple of copies of em and I have couple of questions....

    1) I have a DVD burner on my PC. Will that hardware suffice?

    2) What kind of software is recommended? I am looking for a free one.

    3) Is it as simple as ripping the original DVD and burning it on the blank one?

    4) What kind of blank DVD should I use? DVD-R, DVD-RW...etc?

    Thanks in advance for help.

If you have Nero or Sonic on your computer (usually comes installed with new PC's), you can use one of those programs to copy the DVD.

Yes, you rip the dvd and burn a new one. Many programs have a "copy entire disc" feature on them.

If you have problems ripping, DVD Decrypter is a good free program.

As far as blank media, DVD-R or DVD+R will work. A DVD-RW just means that you can reuse the DVD again (like a blank tape)
