Sugar Bowl absorbs future Big 12 / SEC Championship Game

So much for the "Champion's Bowl". Simply, the big 12 changes its tie in from the Fiesta Bowl to the Sugar. Winners of each conference (assuming they don't make it to the 4 team playoff) will head to New Orleans. Big win for the two conferences and a big FU to the smaller conferences and Big East.

Jerry still has a chance at the game if New Orleans ever hosts a playoff game.

The new post-season bowl, which will begin pitting the winners of the Big 12 and the Southeastern Conferences, has found a home at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
Both leagues announced Tuesday that the new game, previously known as the Champions Bowl, will start in the 2014 post-season and will carry the Sugar Bowl name. The game will be there for 12 years.
According to the contract, if the Sugar Bowl is selected to be one of the semifinal sites of the Bowl Championship Series title game, it would not also host the bowl game.
The new BCS four-team playoff starts following the 2014 season. The first game is set for Jan. 1, 2015.
For the next two years, the Sugar Bowl will continue to have the SEC champion as its host team, while the Fiesta will be the spot for the Big 12 winner.
“New Orleans and the Sugar Bowl are synonymous with post-season college football. For many years, fans have enjoyed the color and pageantry that New Orleans offers,” said SEC Commissioner Mike Slive in a statement released by his office.
