    I hate tires.

Where in the Houston area is the best(cheapest) place to find some tires?

    245/45-17 is what I need

I've been looking at the Nitto NT 555 Extreme Performance. I would like to stay in that general price range (120-140 a pop)

Any advice or recommendations are welcome

Go to tirerack.com price the tires you want. Then go to discounttire.com and compare. Then take both quotes into discount and ask the manager to match the tirerack price. Worked for me on some replacement tires for my mini cooper s.

I like Discount Tire because of their customer service. I had a flat once (nail) and they fixed it with no charge. The tires weren't even theirs (I was driving a company car at the time).

I'd do what VooDooPope suggested. TireRack usually has the cheapest prices on tires, but you have to pay to ship them so take that into consideration. Even so, they're still often cheaper than most.

Just as they did for Faos, Discount Tire also fixed a flat for free on my car, too. They just said "remember us next time". I did... bought 4 new tires on my last car from them.

I feel your pain. It really sucks buying new tires every 20k miles or so. I purchased the exact size tires last fall after doing a decent amout of research. I found that tirerack.com had the best prices around and have ordered from them twice. I found that shipping was about the same as paying sales tax. The mounting price is the same with dealers regardless of whether you purchase the tires from them. They drop shipped them to a tire shop a few blocks from me that put them on with no problems. The first time i had them send to my place and took them to discount tire to have them mounted.

Here is a link to the Yokahomas i ended up geting. They seem to have great traction for the extremly low price and the wear has been pretty good so far.

Also if you dont want to order off the net discount tire is the best tire shop i have ever dealt with. They have fast friendly service and dont charge a thing to rotate or fix a flat.

    Chump,

Call 281-890-5920 and ask for Debbie. She is with Tire & Wheel Connection. They can more than likely beat any price in the city, including Discount Tire. Tell her Chris from ADA sent you.

    :)

Call Bertha over at The Mayo Bar (281-555-5555).

They have the best slaw you have ever had, 1 cup for 99 cents, 1 pint for $1.39. They have a super size too, 1 gallon for $4.99. They call it "The Angioplasty".

I don't know about other locations, but the Discount Tire I go to recently changed their policy to free repairs only on tires purchased from them. Of course, it only cost 10 bucks to repair the tire, which is still a damn good price, and I get that 10 bucks discounted from my next purchase there. I think you get free rotations if you get a set of four...

Discount Tire Company has very good customer service.

If you buy tires from them, any service to those tires (fixing them, rotating them) is free for the life of the tires.
