    Stupid human tricks: Shaquille O'Neal broke his two bottom front teeth Sunday while chewing on a plastic bottle cap. He needed five hours of dental surgery Monday to repair the damage.

    Far from embarrassed, O'Neal showed off a Polaroid close-up of his face during surgery, wires tugging at every corner of his mouth, and a red rubber apparatus (for nitrous oxide) over his nose. It was quite an image -- think Bozo in bondage.

    "I was chewing on a bottle top, and I broke some of my grill," he said. "And Shaquille O'Neal without a nice grill don't look right, so I had to go to the dentist and fix it up."

    Of course, some people just chew gum.

    "Yeah," O'Neal said, "but I'm a weirdo."

    I love Shaq -- he's kindof like Bill Walton. You never know what the hell is going to come out of his mouth, but it's either going to shock or confuse you . . .

    Go for it. Walton is light years ahead of Shaq intellectually. Be prepared for a surprise if you think Shaq woud win the poll.

    Yeah, Bill Walton is a REALLY bright guy, he just hides it in his strangeness and flamboyance. I don't think Shaq is all that dumb, I think he just kindof jokes about it like that. He's not Bill Walton, but I'd say he's much brighter than he seems . . .

    Shaq was on the Leno show several years ago. Jay asked him "What name would you choose as a pro wrestler?" Shaq said something like "The Bigfooted Tornado." Shaq is good at saying dumb and funny things.
