A scooper for Ain't-It-Cool-News sent in a report from the Star Wars summit at the Presidio in San Francisco, where Lucasfilm presented the marketing of Star Wars: Episode III and showed the first footage. Here's a clip (minor spoilers ahead)...

The marketing timeline for Star Wars is as follows - This week, The Clone Wars, then the original Star Wars trilogy is being released September 2004, then Episode 3 teaser advertising begins in January of 2005, Episode 3 May 2005, Episode 3 DVD/VHS November 2005. One little fun fact - seems that they have TWO Star Wars television ideas floating around the ranch...one would be animation and the other - LIVE ACTION. These television projects would be in 2006. Let's hope they're better than the Star Wars Christmas Special, or those Ewok films.

But the REAL meat and potatoes was the Episode 3 footage! Some cool as hell stuff. Anakin is looking darker than ever. Dark clothes, with what appears to be some scars on his face. They showed one seen with Obi-Won, The Emperor and Anakin crashing their ship into a planet as the ship burns.

They showed some animation of what will be OB1's transportation at one point in the film. A large lizard that's able to walk upside down and scale walls.

I would love to get these on DVD and hope that this isnt a bunch of crap. I had always heard that they would be put on DVD after Episode III is released and George "has time" to put them on DVD. I tried to find something on starwars.com to verify this and came up blank. I guess we can only cross our fingers.

    P.S.
I am crazy excited about Episode III. I and II were ok but it is gonna be hard to screw up III. Seeing Darth Vader will be amazing. Also what I have read has been pretty encouraging. Too bad it is still OVER A YEAR AND A HALF AWAY!!!!!

    Good God...2005?!?

At least I have movies like LOTR, Troy and Day After Tomorrow to tide me over. (Among others, I'm sure)

Somebody explain to me how Episodes 1-3 are supposed to be 40 years or so before the original trilogy...yet they had much more advanced technology.

George Lucas really needs to keep his grubby paws off the script and hire GOOD writers.
