Why is Stalin considered so evil? I did a search on him and the only thing I learned was he brought Russia through to save Europe. Anyone care to answer.

Stalin killed more Russians than Hitler killed Jews, or something like that. My history teacher tells us that he is just as evil, but since he was our ally, he didn't get the attention.

I think he killed them because of food shortages, or something.
If anyone has the exact numbers, I'd like to know. I want to say he killed 12 million, but I'm not sure why that number is coming up.

You evidently need to use a better search engine.

    Here is something:

Azadre, was that some kind of a joke? Are you doing a paper for school or something? Stalin was a monster. Hitler was just a bigger one. Do some reading, man. Go to a good bookstore if you don't want to buy anything and sit in the history section and READ.

Stalin caused more deaths than almost anybody in the history of the planet. If he isn't first on that list it's a really short roll call ahead of him. There was a special place in hell for that guy.

Stalin did do some pretty revolutionary things to improve the russian economy like his 5 year plans and all that...but he was also a murderer of his own people.

The russian army basically sent in everybody and wouldn't let their own retreat. they would not give up, and because of this, millions of their own men and millions of others died for stalins cause of spreading communism throughout the world.

If you want to research stalin...look up things such as "the iron curtain" and how he tried to control europe. also look up communism, as his form of it was pretty brutal.

Also look up the battle of stalingrad and stuff like that.

I don't know the numbers...all i know is that he killed alot of people because of his want to spread communism by force.

It is impossible to do justice to history in this thread. I've just finished Russian History 1917 to present. So after 5 weeks of one of the coolest, most in-depth classes I've ever taken, I believe I can fairly say that it too complicated to explain stalin here.

Azadre, after I finish typing my term paper, would you like me to send you a copy of it? You could also go to the library and check out some books. Those things will educate you more about Stalin than anything can here at the BBS.

Well, I did a search for Stalin and WWII but when I did just Stalin, I did see the Purges. Stalin was a pretty bad guy.
Kim, will you send me a copy through BBS email?
