Scola on the NCAA Final Four, Zoubek, Hayward, Butler

I was very lucky this year, we happened to play in Indianapolis, the very same weekend that the Final Four of the NCAA was taking place in Indy. I had tickets for the semi-finals, so I thought I would talk to you guys a little bit about it.

First of all, it was very impressive the amount of people! The games were played in the football arena , Lucas Oil Stadium, and it was completely packed!. Not only that, but also it was amazing how many people were outside the arena when the games ended: there were people all over the place! It was so bad, that after the game it took me more than 1 ½ hours to get a taxi back to the hotel.

I went to the game with Julio Lamas, a very famous coach, that happened to be the one who called me to play on the Argentinian National Team in 1999, before everyone else, when I was 19, to play the South American Open in Bahia Blanca.

Anyway, the Final Four was a lot of fun! Great atmosphere and great games! The only downside was the view. I dont think a football arena is prepared to hold a basketball game, We had really good tickets, but we were so far away, that we could barely see whats going on.

I’m going to tell you which players impressed me the most:

First, from Duke #55, Brian Zoubek, very big body, with a lot of mobility for his size, very clutch rebounder, a lot of blocks, but what impressed me the most, is his ability to show on the pick and rolls and take charges; definitely an NBA player.

Next, from Butler #20, Gordon Hayward. The guy can play! He’s a true power forward and has size, but needs to work on his strength. He can shoot, pass, rebound and run the court like a small forward. He could have made that last shot. I’m looking foward to see him in the NBA in the future.

Then there was Da’Sean Butler from West Virginia. I was looking foward to seeing him play this Final Four and it was too bad he got injured.

OK guys, the season is almost over. Lets see if we can finish it above 500.

From the screen shot...it's definitely pretty far....not good for what a real NBA arena will give you.

is Gordon Hayward a true Power Forward? the way he played i thought he was more like Small Forward. Despite horrible FG% in the championship game, this guy can play.

Scola is right; he is damn good scout from just watching Zoub

Zoubek is a professional screen setter, rebounder, charge taker, and flopper. Garbage backup center extraordinaire.

I think he's definitely a SF. Good size and handles for the position too. I believe he was playing point whenever Nored was out of the game.
