Looking at the Carmelo ejection of last night's game, I'm seriously stunned the replay centre is still not being used to speed up the game and given the permission to pass on anything they see to the officials. The incompetence of the referees is another thing, first deciding to give double T's and play on only to then review the play.

So coming back to the replay centre, they have like what: 5-6 guys in there monitoring the whole game from different angles. Why not use them? In this case, they could've seen the blow and rewind it back while the referees were trying to separate the two guys / teams and say review the play: clear elbow to the throat by Melo.

Now I know they want to give referees final say in case of technicals and flagrants, which I understand because they have a feel for the game and sometimes have to make decisions that will have serious consequences for the way it will be played and how players and or coaches will respond.

Still in this case, it could've been clear within a minute at the replay centre that Carmelo elbowed Thabo. Pass on the clip to the actual monitor the referees use, if that is how it works and if not then they can say when going for the rebound etc...referees discuss for a few seconds, decide and move on.

In other cases, the guys at the replay centre also should be given the power to say whether a shot was a 2 or a 3, shot clock violations and other instances where there's no different between the refs or an objective 3rd party making the call. If they cannot, the ruling of the referee on the court stands.
