Ok, I looked at the Rockets salaries, and saw that A LOT of our contracts run out in two years. Plus, there's the possibility of creating another potential $9 mil if we can dump Taylor by giving away something with him(kind of like Rice deal with Utah). Overall, it seems we might be able to create maybe $10 mil to work with. And possibly bring in a difference maker, someone the caliber or a Steve Nash or Carlos Boozer. However, I have some questions.

    1. How much would Yao count against the cap two years from now, when his contract runs out and becomes a RFA?

    2. How much would T-Mac's salary rise to if he opts out and signs the max extension?

If we can somehow manuever ourselves into creating some cap space in two years, I think it would be worth sacrificing a bit right now, by limiting ourselves to lesser player who'll only demand contracts of 2 years or less. I say this mainly because Yao is likely going to take 2-3 years to reach his prime. Why not save our money until then to spend our money?

    Any thoughts?

We'll max extend McGrady's current contract and max extend Yao's rookie scale contract. Please put max FA signings or anything other than MLE signings well out of your thoughts. McGrady and Yao will easily occupy 60% of the Rox payroll in 2006-07.
