If Jeff Van Gundy was a Houston Rocket coach last year. Do you think he would have traded all those picks for Eddie Griffin??

Teams with 3 first round picks = 3 guaranteed contracts. I think a lot of teams would look to trade up when having 3 first rounders. While I am not sure how the rookie salary chart works exactly for each position picked, that 2001 draft was loaded with high school guys, freshman, and a couple of foreigners.

The Rockets made a bold decision to trade for a guy that they thought could have been the top overall player in the draft. Whlile everyone knows how this turned out, I like that the Rockets would take that gamble to get their guy at the time.

Would Van Gundy do the same, I don't know. IMO, Griffin would be a Van Gundy type, a good shot blocker with offensive potential and a solid rebounder ... kind of like Camby.

Question? Why do we keep kicking a dead horse?

All draft picks are a gamble regardless.....

He wouldn't still be with the franchise right now. He would've quit or been fired.
