...or anyone else. I went to New Orleans this past weekend, drank too much, whipped out one of my credit cards (that have all had zero balances on them for several years), and spent a couple thousand dollers of money I don't have on some art. Today, at work...and completely sober, I don't really have any regrets. And I can't wait until UPS delivers all this stuff to my door. Not so secretly, I really like what I bought, and the coservative side of me loudly proclaims that this might be a good investment. Somthing you can enjoy on a daily basis....and it appreciates in value--what could be better than that? I've always liked the work of Robert Kipness. Not much color, kind of bleak, and I've been looking for a similar artist. What I bought though was completely different....loud (at least to me) colors and although not whimsical, certainly not bleak (at least in my eyes). Anyway, I'm the very first to admit that I know NOTHING about art. I just know what I like. That being said, I'd like to educate myself more. And I'd like to start collecting some pieces........still, the soulless part of me wants to think that whatever I buy will have some appreciative value. Can you make any recommendations? Up and coming? Sort of like Kipness? Someone that I can buy their works on my beer budget but whose work has a good chance of appreciating to my champagne tastes? I'd certainly appreciate any insight.
