I got and Ipod, and I imported all my cds onto itunes, but now when I am trying to hook up the cord to my usb port its not transfering the songs like the instructions say it will do. I know it says something about to have a High-power USB 2.0 port. Is there a way to check if I meet that requirement? Or if its not transferring when I connect its not high enough power? Any help is appreciated

under control panel, hardware, device manager, USB, see if you have a 2.0 controller

usually you need XP SP1 for USB 2.0

I do, i have windows xp professional, uhhh when i plug in my ipod to my usb port, it comes on and starts saying do not disconnect, and the battery looks like its charging, but i charged it all the way the other day, also a thing comes up says ipod updater, tellsme to update to configure the ipod for my pc, but there is no option to update because it says i have the latest version. I can restore it but I dont have anything on my ipod cuz its brand new. Any other ideas?
