They'll call me "Uncle" to their son, but my wife's cousin just had a healthy, although approximately two months preemie baby boy... This is significant in our family because two years ago last month they lost their first son at birth. He had complications and was stillborn. RIP Grayson We just got the call earlier tonight that she was going into early labor... the mom shares a similar medical condition that my wife did, "cephalopelvic disproportion," a condition that basically means the baby will not be able to be birthed through the birth canal due to the mom's smaller pelvis... sorry for the graphic detail. As a side note: We almost lost our own son to this condition in '99, had the doctor not been quick to act and do an emergency c-section... as our son was experiencing trauma and had stopped getting oxygen. OUr second child was a scheduled c-section. Our cousin was not so fortunate two years ago... they lost their child. One note to prospective moms... be sure your doctor is aware of the condition and ask about it. Don't let a doctor's tardiness to the hospital deny your child's birth. That is what the medical investigation yielded tragedy with their last birth... the baby basically suffocated in the birth canal. This time the doctor (a different one) delivered the baby by c-section. Thankfully they are both doing just fine tonight... mommy and new son, Konnor.
Congratulations to your family. How long will the baby be in the hospital. My wife is experiencing complications her pregnancy. We already know she will need a c-section but hopefully it will be near the due date. We are at 27 weeks now so we are praying the baby stays put for at least another 5-10 weeks.
