Note: This is not a thread about impotence...

I have a slow drain in my kitchen sink. When I let the water run for more than a few minutes, both sides of the sink fill up and all the gunk from my garbage disposel starts coming into the sink through the drain.

Now, when I run my dishwasher which is right next to my sink, it fills up with water after it finishes running and the water won't drain from it. It's not overflowing thank goodness, but there is about 3 inches of standing water at the bottom of it that won't drain.

Is there an easy fix to this or should I call a plumber? I've already tried Liquid Plumber.

Start with the pipes under the sink. Clean them out and then run a snake through the drain pipe thats in the wall. You might want to remove them for personal inspection.

Most of the time, I don't have to do the snake part.

the only pipes you can really remove are the P trap assy ...since the other side of the sink and the diswasher are backing up too, its not going to be the P trap .......use a snake like swilkins suggested

you can get them pretty cheap at Lowes or Home Depot ..a plumber will charge you 10 times what they cost

That sounds easy enough. I have a toilet snake, is it safe to use that or should I get one for the sink?

    should be the same

you might want to remove the P trap at the bottom and work underneath the sink ....just put a large bucket to catch all the gook

Blame it on the drain that was cloggin', cloggin'
Blame it on the faucet that drip drips all night
    If hairballs, grease, and goo
    Won't let the water through
Blame it on the drain, yeah yeah!
