how many listen to music this way on their home rigs (not portables)?

never was really into the whole MP3 thing- sound quality just wasn't there for me, but now i've been ripping my 1500 CD collection to disc using apple's lossless codec. i've got a large outboard firewire drive, and i take a USB out from my powerbook, run it into an edirol USB-->SPDIF converter, then into a good quality DAC. I've built a smart playlist for my jazz tunes so that every disc is automatically added as i rip it. i choose "random", hit play, and it's better than any radio station- sounds pretty great as well. not quite as good as a good stand alone CD player, but still pretty damn good. it's a great way to discover music buried in my collection that i'd forgotten all about.
