Have known Tony for years, great to see him moving up. We played some Genesis in my apartment last time he was up in Austin. He's put his nose to the ground and really worked his way up. "Best Underground Hip-Hop Artist" in Houston is hopefully about the break through. That's what great about this current generation of young Houston musicians like Fat Tony and the Wild Moccasins: they're committing to making it and representing their city.
First learned about Fat Tony when I saw him perform at the Guilty Simpson/J.Rocc show at Numbers about 6 months ago. He was impressive despite MAJOR technical difficulties (and a disappointing crowd). He released his debut album, RABDARGAB, a few months later and I was impressed once again. Good to see some of these underground hip-hop acts from Houston get the recognition that they deserve.
