Customers purchase gasoline in Portland, Ore.,Thursday March 6, 2003. Rising gas prices are hurting chances of a gas tax being introduced in the Oregon Legislature to raise money for road and bridge repairs.

When I went to Hawaii in the summer of 1999, the gas prices were already well above $2.00/gallon. I can only imagine what they're skyrocketing too now! Of course, how much driving is there on an island?

Oregon has high gas prices anyways. In an attempt to lower big time unemployment a few years ago, they made all gas stations MANDATORY full serve, and they build that into the price of gas.

Which is over $4 per gallon.
