    Anyone want to share their reccomendations or movies to avoid?

    Movies I returned this weekend:

    Birth of a Nation (felt I needed to see it -- surprised of the level of outright racism even knowing it was made in 1915)

    Holiday - good romantic comedy (wife's choice)

    Borat (I guess because of all the hype I was disappointed. I don't find naked fat guys wrestling funny)

    Movies I have or on the way:
    Good Year (Russel Crowe)
    Blood Diamond
    Rocky Balboa

    Recent movies I liked:
    Babel
    The Departed
    Crank
    Little Miss Sunshine
    The Illusionist
    Sling Blade (rewatched -- I love that movie)
    Brick ( a little differnt but good)
    Pizza (quirky indie comedy)
    12 and Holding (coming of age movie I go sucked into)
    Spanglish (not your typical adam sandler)
    Beyond the Gates of Splendor (great movie about missionaries who are killed)

    Did not like:
    Stranger Than Fiction (just didn't get it)
    Snakes on a Plane (dumb and boring)

    That's a pretty good list. I LOVE Slingblade. I actually own that DVD. Great script, great acting, interesting story, and great music (Danial Lanois). Ritter (RIP) was great in that movie and Dwight Yoakam was downright scary as Doyle. I had no idea that guy could act.

    I use Netflix to watch TV shows (like 24) that everyone talks about but I don't have time to watch.

    get The Machinist.

    i have a lot of respect for Christian Bale's dedication to his roles. can't believe the transformation. he's a hell of an actor too.

    I don't usually have a lot of 2-hr blocks (or 2 hrs worth of attention span, to be honest) after work for movies, but I really get a lot of use out of my Netflix with TV shows. I find that it's a fantastic way to check out shows you missed the boat on and don't want to try and watch mid-way through their life, or want to see the series from the beginning, in sequence, with no commercials. Really easy when all I need is 20 or 40 mins here and there.

    Big hits with me and the wife:
    -->The Shield
    -->Arrested Development
    --->Scrubs
    --->The Office (BBC)
    --->Rescue Me

    Sopranos was a disappointment. Really good for the first two seasons, went down a soap opera **** slide starting with the 3rd.

    Some shows that we haven't done Netflix style but would also figure to be good that way:
    24
    My Name is Earl

    Idiocracy was much better than I thought it would be. The whole premise was hilarious and the little details were great.
