Can anyone suggest a good one to use?

I dont know much about computers.....so it has to be easy to use. :)

    Also....I want a free one. :D

Ive been using Sygate Personal Firewall for AGES and I like it. But it doesnt have automatic downloading and to install the new version is says you have to uninstall the old version.

Well I did that, no problem. But now I have the new version dying after a week and its left me without a Firewall for a few days without me even noticing!

ZoneLabs ZoneAlarm. The free version is good. At first very noisy, but it gets quiet by learning what you do with your Internet connection. blocks intrusions like a rich girl blocks a nerd.

Microsoft's FireWall has every service checked as non-grata by default.

    I haven't tried any yet.

If you are using Windows XP, upgrade to SP2, it has a Windows firewall.

Windows XP has a firewall as well. SP2 just makes it more noticeable.

I remember somebody posting a thread a few days ago about needing a firewall and they said that they were told that XP's firewall isn't good.

I tried Kerio, but it failed the LeakTest...um...test: http://www.grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm

    ZoneAlarm and Sygate both passed.

I realize I may have not had the firewall configured right, but I prefer to use one that gets right from the beginning. I don't want to have to do too much configuring, although I see the value in being able to do so.

I really like the feature zonelarm has. But when I start my computer, it always idld for about 1 minute before zonealarm would load up.
If that's still the problem, I'm thinking of switching.
