So for no good reason I decide to bring Use Your Illusion II to work today. I haven't listened to it in at least seven years, and you know what, I still like it! There's some really good songs on it. I kind of forgot how talented and how good they really were. The Use Your Illusions sometimes get overlooked because of AFD, but they were really two solid albums. Anyways, name your ten favorite GNR songs?! 1. Sweet Child O' Mine 2. Welcome to the Jungle 3. Patience 4. November Rain 5. Paradise City 6. Estranged 7. Don't Cry 8. It's So Easy 9. Yesterday 10. Civil War ...seeing axl at the mtv awards was sad EDIT: Now I remember why I wanted to bring the album! It was the "Covers" thread where someone mentioned Knockin' on Heaven's Door! It's a good cover.
My ten favorite GNR songs are all none of them. No it wasn't. It was amusing to watch him try to sing. It was also educational. It showed all the young people what you will look like in your late 30s after years of shooting heroin and having sex with 13 year old girls.
Estranged and Mr. Brownstone. I still listen to these two and they always bring back old High School memories.
That song rules! I am going to watch T2 again this weekend. I just watched the T3 trailer again, damn I am hyped to see it.
That is what I was thinking, too. I know "Welcome to the Jungle", "Sweet Child O'Mine", and "Patience". But it seems like they had a lot of filler stuff. They should have put the best songs from "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" on one album. W. Axyl Rose, your time has passed. Please move on.
1. November Rain 2. Sweet Child of Mine 3. Paradise City 4. Welcome to the Jungle 5. You Could Be Mine 6. Don't Cry 7. Knockin On Heaven's Door 8. Live and Let Die 9. Patience 10. Estranged I am listening to them right now - "Knockin on Heaven's Door" Man they used to rule. Still one of my all time favorites.
Totally agree! If they combined the best songs off both albums it could have been classic. But come on...is AFD their only album? How many times over did the Use Your Illusions go platinum? And how much radio play and MTV play did those two albums get? They were as popular at the time those two albums came out as they ever were!!!
Couldn't stand them. I'm glad the girl I was with at the Metalicca / G&R dome show decided to skip G&R and go have some wild sex in the car while waiting for our friends to suffer through Axel's attempt at singing.
You didnt miss anything, he was late gettin onstage as normal...and then when he got there...he couldn't remember half the words even tho he had a teleprompter right in front of him. I had a ball in the pit during Metal-claw... EDIT: Oh yea...GnR Songs Most of AVD Patience I Used to Love Her, but I Had to Kill Her November Rain You Could Be Mine Civil War I wouldn't have minded if the combined the Illusion albums...most of those songs sucked.. Knockin on Heaven's Door just came on the radio...coincidence? I think not
First off, it's Axl, not "Axyl", or "Axel" (Manny, you're going to have to do better if you ever want to be a writer for Rolling Stone ). SO many great songs by this band. Of course Appetite is legendary. Favorites from Appetite (although the whole thing is classic top to bottom): 1. Mr. Brownstone 2. Nighttrain 3. Paradise City 4. Rocket Queen 5. Welcome to the Jungle 6. Sweet Child o' Mine Non-Appetite Favorites: Dead Horse Don't Damn Me The Garden Breakdown Locomotive So Fine Knockin' on Heaven's Door Patience Mama Kin Estranged I actually never liked "Don't Cry" or "November Rain". I think I might be the only fan that didn't.
Top 10 ehh? Excluding songs from The Spaghetti Incident and in no particular order... Civil War Get In The Ring 14 Years November Rain Don't Cry Garden of Eden One In A Million Nightrain Mr. Brownstone Welcome To The Jungle honorable mention because I've heard them a thousand times, but still love 'em... every other song I didn't list. GNR is one of my favorite all-time bands.
