I'd read about this on the net for the last week but couldn't find any official announcements but here it is according to the current ish of Wizard: KEVIN SMITH IS GOING TO BE THE NEW WRITER ON AMAZING SPIDER-MAN!!! For the two people who don't know who Smith is, he's the guy behind all the Jay and Silent Bob movies.
I heard a rumor that Doc Oct will be the next villian. Does anyone know if this is true? If it is, when are they going to get with the program and present Venom?
Doc Ock and Lizard are currently rumored to be the villains in the sequel, but nothing has been confirmed. Interestingly enough, Eddie Brock(Venom's alter ego) had a cameo in "Spider-Man" but it was cut(maybe it will be on the DVD)... So Venom is definitely on the horizon, though it'll take a while and some creative thinking to come up with an origin that doesn't involve the Secret Wars. BTW, I was referring to The Amazing Spider-Man, the monthly comic book series and not the next movie(allthough it would be pretty damn sweet if Kevin Smith wrote that too ).
