I'm looking for a Maltese puppy for my kids.
Do you know any reputable breeders in Houston?

    Thanks,

My girlfriend got hers (now ours) in the Dallas area. She said he was very good, I can ask her for the name if you're interested. Not sure if you wanna drive that far, though.

Have you thought of adopting instead of a breeder? There's tons of dogs out there that need good homes. We found our perfect dog from a shelter, and wouldn't think of doing otherwise. Just something to think about. Petfinder has a large database of dogs that need homes.

^^^ This was my immediate thought as well.

That's a classic piece of American cinema that was long before my time as well. You don't have to be old to recognize this.

Make sure you feed him/her a good ph balanced diet food. I just spent over $700 having bladder stones removed caused by 2 years of Kibbles-n-Bits. The Standard eats it just fine (10+ years) but they said that you really have to be careful with small white dogs. Wish they would have told me that when I first took the puppy in for shots...

That's his website. Like I said earlier, it's pretty far away, I think about an hour away from Dallas.

A - you should definitely adopt.

    B -

Getting a dog "for your kids" is a bad idea. Get a dog for the family? Sure. But even then, this will be your and your wife's dog to care for, primarily. I understand where your going - but putting it out there like you do makes me think you're not really 100% behind this idea and are just appeasing your kids, which again is a bad idea.

Nope, I said for my kids but actually for my wife, for the family. She always wants a Maltese, plus we have a Jack Russell now; he’ll be happy to have another dog to play with.
I don’t mind to take care of dogs, just go with Cesar Millan’s rules, you should be ok. :)

like many of the others said, you really should look to shelters and adopting. a plus to that too is that they usually take care of the neutering and vaccinations before you even get the dog. i think thats a huge plus. also, i dont think i could ever pay that much (usually $500 minimum for breeds like maltese or yorkie) for a dog

sure, sure...what I expected. If you do adopt, which I strongly encourage, if you have to fill out an application and they ask you why you're adopting, don't say "for my kids" - that is frowned upon in the dog adoption world, and for good reason as often in those cases the dog gets returned or abandoned / brought to a shelter, whatever once the people who really should be responsible (the parents) figure out it's their responsibility, and one they don't really want.

One of my favorite movies. And Humphrey Bogart is one of my favorite actors of all time!

Actually, the one with Bogart, Astor, Greenstreet, and Lorre....

...was a remake of the 1931 original.
