I'm wondering, where do you shop? Who has the best staff/prices in Houston? For me, the extra drive is worth it. Just looking for other's experiences or thoughts.
Fiesta, unless you shop at the Warehouse, Spec's is overpriced. Spec's obviously has the better selection but if you are going for popular choices and you can't get to the warehouse, I would suggest Fiesta.
SPEC'S WAREHOUSE IS AWESOME!!! I saw on one of their flyers that they are now claiming to be the "world's largest liquor store". I believe it, too. The free samples on the weekends are the icing on the cake. My friends, there are liquor stores, and then there is Spec's liquor warehouse in Midtown.
Bigtexx, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I cannot walk out of Spec's Warehouse without spending at least $200.
This thread reminds me of one of my favorite Fred Sanford quotes..."beer when it's near...liquor 'cause it's quicker".
I'm still waiting on Specs to finally distribute some Yuengling beer from PA. That has to be the BEST 12 beers I've ever had the pleasure to chug.
Oh you've got to be kidding me. Having spent a fair amount of time in Philly and Baltimore around Penn St alums who CONSTANTLY hype this stuff, I was really underwhelmed by it. I guess it's different strokes for different folks.
Definitely the best staffing. I'm always shocked by how many people are working there, and they all seem to have a decent idea of the products (or at least the ones I've spoken with). Although I haven't shopped around too much I've found the pricing to be quite reasonable.
Best part was this weekend at Spec's. We went in because of a party we were throwing, and my friend was paying the tab because of a promotion. Three grocery carts later, we got the bill. Spent $648. Completely awesome experience!
Did you try the Yuengling Black and Tan? Really good. Their basic lager is sub-par. They have a brewery in Tampa now, so when I go visit my grandparents I throw back the occasional B+T in a bottle. I actually talked to Specs about getting it, they said that its the local distribution company that stopped providing it. "Maybe in the future" he said.
