Quote Philadelphia Inquirer - The Sixers, who had been very close to, if not over, the NBA's luxury tax threshold of $61.7 million, will see Steven Hunter's salary subtracted from their payroll. The $2.8 million can be used as a trade exception, and the Sixers have a $4.5 million exception from their trade of Marc Jackson last summer to the New Jersey Nets . The Sixers can use that money to obtain a player, but Billy King said nothing is etched in stone. The trade deadline is Feb. 23 Unquote If this is true, can't we just trade Sto to NJ and get one of their picks and get back our MLE which we spent on him? Sort of getting a refund for a bad movie!
You get 1 Mid-Level Exception per contract year. You get a Traded Player Exception any time by trading salary to an under the cap team. CHA is the only team with $5m in cap space remaining in this current contract year. No offense but you need to be a little less hyper-active. And doing a little reseasrch on your own wouldn't be a bad idea. UPDATE: MLE's are strictly for signing FA's, Traded Player Exceptions can only be used in Trades & no Exceptions can be combined on a single incoming or outgoing contract.
No offense taken! Frankly I am not sure what this has to do with hyperactivity! Thanks anyway- I dont really understand the nuances of the CBA. I did try to read a document on this- but it more laziness than hyperactivity- Thanks anyway.
