You know, I've been on the fence about this whole axis of evil, war against terrorism thing.

But you know, the fact that a bunch of morons hijacked four US airplanes and crashed them, killing thousands of innocent people....and never once bothered to step forward and say, "hey! we're responsible for that act, and this is why.....," slightly coupled with my impression that the Islamic faith--as a whole--really never stepped up to the plate to adequately denounce these acts committed in its name, and at this moment, STRONGLY coupled with the fact that someone who lives within 35 miles of me has claimed that the US government has written the document that Cohen has posted....

.....has really made me swing one leg over and hop onto one side of this issue. This is a very insidious problem that isn't hiding in a cave halfway around the world. It's all around me. Hell, it's even in Texas, and that's enough to make my hair stand on end. I have some guns that I bought when I was young, but honestly, I haven't seen them in years. I think I'm gonna find one and sleep with it tonight. I'm scared.

Thank God for treeman and his brothers. I hope the US government never stops. We need to kill, kill, kill, and keep killing these enemies of this great nation until........well......until I feel safe again.

Unfortunately we are so worried about racial profiling and moral high grounds that we make ourselves an easy mark for terrorists. We have completely obfuscated the issues by injecting them with politically correct crap that we can't even recognize the dangers when they land on our nose and start to wiggle.

Things will never get better until we go with what we know is effective against terrorists and less about political correctness.

There...I said it...flame away if you need to. People often don't like the truth.

Anybody see The West Wing tonight? I loved it.

Intelligence has picked up that the the Minister of Defense of Qumar has been meeting with known terrorist organizations and is explicity involved in a plot to destroy the Golden Gate Bridge.

Here's the rub: that same Minister of Defense is due to visit The White House in a week or so. They want to arrest him on arrival.

Because of international laws of diplomacy, the "staff" determines that they can't. In frustration, President Bartlett gripes, "If we have to plant heroin on his plane, we're going to find a way to arrest him." Go Jed!

John Amos as one of The Generals does a fine essay on his 38 year career in the military and concludes that now is a time when you can't even tell if it is war-time or peace-time. He thinks that should disavow the sanctity of diplomatic immunity.

However, in a disappointing development, President Bartlett relents and dis-invites the Minister of Defense in favor of "absolute moral laws."

WTF? Methinks he has it backwards....

No you got it. I was going to point it out... but I thought you would be disappointed. :)

Remember, I went to A&M, too!

We probably agree more often than not...just have differences on how to express it.

We may even agree on the fate of RC Slocum. :D

I'm from the Emory Bellard era (1973 ...). I do have two nephews currently in College Station.

I do think my "style" is unique. I try to be deliberate and not make it personal but people sure don't seem to take it that way.

I've made some enemies here for sure-- over issues!!. I find it bewildering. Since this is not the sum-total of my life, I try not to take it too hard.

But at the end of the show, you know that the guy is still coming to the US, right?

I don't think so. He instructs Leo to "make the call"-- which I understood to be to call Qumar and cancel the impending trip. This was the existing plan when Leo made this final appeal at John Amos' character's request.

I couldn't figure that out the first time I saw it either, but I think they may have cancelled and then un-cancelled with the call, because he does fly in in the next episode (are you intrigued now? It was pretty good, I like the Amos character).

Really! I don't see it every week so my sequencing is jumbled. As this show ended, the call had not been made... just instructions for it TO be made.

That was a great TV moment when Amos gave his "I've been in the military 38 years speech..."

While I don't agree with most of the politics on the show, I LOVE IT. Has to be one of the best written TV shows of all time.
