Last year was a beautiful site, a team with chemistry, a whole being more than the sum of its parts. To all of us however, if it was fairly clear the whole run that we would not be hoisting the trophy in June. Now, however we have taken a vital step. I have been on record as wanting AW or SA before Stromile, but I have to admit that I didnt ever think either 1 of the 3 would come at anything less that 7-9 million a year. We have made serious strides today because we still have our expiring contracts to add a player or two now, or down the line this season. After adding TMAC last year, we all knew that we had made progress, but now by adding Stro for the MLE, we have opened our championship window. Our inside defense has strengthened a lot and SS will be able to keep Yao out of foul trouble and the constant threat of his weaside defense will loom in the mind of penetrators. I would like AD but could live with DS. I would really like to add a lare 2/3 after that, but even if we don't, CD has made the best move of the offseason. With our roster situation, we will be able to add atleast 1 quality backcourt asset. And: Yao/Deke Stro/JH TMac/? We now have the best frontline in the league and the next 5 years is prime!. We have only one goal from here on out.
this is stupid. ur just talking about the team after adding swift. this should be in the swift thread
We're sitting very pretty now. I think especially with the potential availability of guys like Finley, Houston, Rose, etc., we can afford to sit back and recruit veteran free agent guards/forwards willing to take a paycut to play with a winner.
^^^ i hope you're not talking about allan houston and his $20 mil. a year contract. he's probably the most overpaid player in the history of the NBA. $20 mil. a year for 18 ppg, 2 rebounds and 2 assists...only the knicks hand out contracts like that....
I agree. We must only straighten up our backcourt and we are right there. It is up to Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady to take us to the promised land from there on out. And I have an inkling that.......they will...
I am talking about Houston, but not his contract. Guys like Houston, Finley, and Rose might be waived to take advantage of the one-time luxury tax relief provision in the new CBA. If they are indeed waived, there's the chance one of them might take the minimum to play with a contender.
Hey Brando, or Mr. 59, this thread is not about Swift, it is about what adding Swift does in terms of expectations for our entire team.
we do not have a contending roster yet. we are close though. with stro we would've beat the mavs and maybe lost to the suns. if we get damon then i would say we could make the conference finals.
I think that we would beat any team in the league right now in a 7 game series except for SA and Detroit. We do need another player or 2 to contend with those teams, but our big 2 would simply overwhelm any other team.
