Can anyone reccomend a good licensed home and termite inspector for my new house? I'm just looking for someone that is good and won't rip me off. This is on the west side of town so someone in that area would probably be best.

I just got one done for the house I bought last week. I'll email you through the board about the name of the guy.

I have used, and highly recommend, the inspector that pushed to pass legislation for certification and actually wrote the certification tests. His inspection # is #1.

Many real estate agents literally ban him because he is too thorough.

real estate agents can't ban inspectors ...especially, since they aren't hired by them in the first place

I'm in the process of selling and buying a house.

The inspector that we used is considered one of the best in the city.

He nailed me for subs and dry wood and nailed the owner of the house I'm buying for subs.

He's batting 1000 does a very very good job.

Amrid is the name of the company and I think the guys name is Tony. I'll doube check the name and find the number if you want.

He inspected my house in the Heights and the house I'm buying in Cypress so he works all over.

Yea, the inspector himself told me that agents literally included in the verbiage of the contract offer, that they cannot use him (Ron Givens) as the home inspector. They do this because he is so thourough that he often scares off the buyers so the buyers agent effectively loses the sale.

He also told me that he heard about formal meetings held at the agencies to discuss how to discourage buyers from using him because he drives away customers.

My agent, from John Daugherty Realestate, looked like a ghost when I told her who I was using. She confirmed part of his story by explaining how she had attended a meeting where he was discussed.

All houses have problems. He will find them. He didn't scare me off because I am reasonable enough to know all houses have problems. I would rather know now than find out later. I also don't want the agent and inspector to have a "cozy" relationship behind my back which often happens.

His # is: 713-524-4877 (Ronald Givens)
You can find more info about him and others here.
