Anybody remember the old Houston Mavericks from the ABA? I don't, but here's a neat page covering them if you're interested. Attendance bit was hilarious, but embarrassing lmao. Colors were pretty ew though. Willie Somerset was the original little man in H-Town, 5-10 and 21 ppg. Interestingly we met the Dallas team, the Chapparals, in the Playoffs (and got swept).

We really need a Rockets History section to reminisce about the olden days of the Rockets and other Houston basketball novelties.

Interesting, I never went to any Maverick games. The Coliseum was like a dungeon. I went to the Coliseum to see Houston Wrestling, and I thought it was the scariest place I had ever seen. Saw some concerts at the Coliseum also, just a bad bad place.

Also, when the Rockets first came to Houston, they also struggled with attendance. I think they averaged less than 4000 people a couple years in the early 70's at Hofheinz. Hofheinz was like a palace compared to the Coliseum. I definitely went to a few games that had less than 1000 people in attendance.

Lol maybe that's why the Beatles (who came to the Coliseum in '65) never came back!
