Okay... I've got a Hamlet paper due, and it's going to argue that bad things happen to characters who act on impulse and that Hamlet's hesitation isn't so much paralyzation as it is precaution. Does anyone know of specific critical essays that deal with this? Having to dig through all of them sucks. Also, where does the phrase "Fools rush in where angels dare to tread" originate? Thanks in advance.
Don't you mean "... where angels fear to tread"? Anyway, there are variations on the quote. Ricky Nelson even had a song about it. Uh... try Alexander Pope.
"There's something rotten in the State of Denmark." I was in the "Hamlet castle" in Helsingør /Denmark last weekend. Very nice!
I was being sarcastic. I figured most of the college people on here knew that I was referring to Alexander Pope. I actually had a college professor who was big on Alexander Pope's work. I mean borderline fanatic. He always called him "The Pope" to be funny.
