-The Kings are maybe having the most underrated season so far. Best record in the league without Webber, and almost no buzz. I'm going to eat my words about Brad Miller, he's been huge for them. It'll be interesting to see how Webber's knee is and how he's worked back in.

-Spurs remind me so much of the 94 championship Rockets it's not funny. They're probably going to rework the roster again this summer and get even better.

-The Lakers have issues. I'm happy to not eat crow in regards to them. I was telling everyone I knew that they'd be fragile - and not in terms of (just) chemistry. The frontcourt bench got razor thin over the summer (not that it was great before), and if Shaq and/or Malone went down for stretches, they'd become a weak team. May is what matters, but they'll have a tough time getting a good playoff seed. I'd say it's 50/50 that Payton stays after this year and 60/40 that Kobe stays.

-Denver, Milwaukee, and Utah.......wtf. I'm still not that high on 'Melo. He'll get there, though. Jerry Sloan, coach of the year. Terry Porter better get a couple votes, though.

-Lebron for ROY, despite not getting his team anywhere. With one or two legit teammates, he'll be the most dangerous player around. I say that because so much of his game is centered around playmaking, not shooting.

-Vince is probably feeling a lot better about his GM than he did a few months ago.

-Isiah needs to just be done with the charade and dump Chaney for Brandon Malone for the year. Doc in 04-05 is my bet.

-Byron Scott is gone the second the team sale is finalized. I kind of like the thought of the Brooklyn Nets. What FA wouldn't want to play for Brooklyn? That's the next closest thing to Rucker Park having a team. K-Mart stays after getting matched or realizing that he really won't be offered the max by anyone. Richard Jefferson is next in line for a rude awakening. Kidd's knee is someting to pay attention to.

-If John Gabriel still has a job come July, McGrady should pull a Barry Sanders.

-I used to enjoy watching them struggle post-Jordan, but now I just feel bad for Chicago fans. Chandler and Curry are what I point to as the number one wrong thing with HS lottery picks - they don't see the need to work on their game (see also: Kwame).

-I had a feeling that whoever "won" the Gilbert Arenas sweepstakes would lose. Stack's knee isn't looking good at all.

-I like what Zeke is doing at MSG so far. The next month should also be interesting.

-Baron Davis may be the most overlooked MVP candidate. KG is putting up SICK numbers. Duncan defines most valuable player because, let's be serious, the rest of that roster would never win more than 15 games a year. My vote would be TD, but it'd be nice if KG gets it.

-Dallas' wheels are falling off. I really think Cuban expected to immediately package players for a legit center when he brought in Antwan and Antoine.

-Indiana has a good shot at being the sacrifice lamb this year.

Ya know.....I bet you could sneak a relatively sane Rocket's discussion into this thread.

I am just completely shocked at how bad the Mavs are playing. I loved the Jamison trade, but absolutely hated the Walker trade. I blame him for all of the mavs troubles, despite how his stats may look. The mavs were flat out dominate with just the Big 3 and came close to winning a championship. Since the arrival of Walker, they are fighting for a playoff spot:confused:

Well, I just figured I'd leave the Rockets to the other forum.

I'd say it's more like 90% Payton stays and 100% Kobe stays.

This past week in back to backs, they hammered the Mavs in Dallas and had the Spurs whipped until Turkgolo hit a 3 point prayer to force overtime. They're 9-5 vs the West. It will be far from a sacrifice.

I agree with you on Walker. I think you can pinpoint their problems to him. I think the offense STILL is trying to decide who is running it, Nash or Walker? Just not as fluid as before. Their are chemistry issues on this team.

Jamison is solid off the bench and seems to fit well on the team, but Walker just doesn't.

The only bright spot for Dallas this year has been the superb play of Josh Howard. Great role player for that team, lots of hustle!

I think its pretty certain Kobe will stay with the Lakers as long as Shaq is there.. I think Kobe is realizing that Shaq makes his job easier. Without Shaq but still having Kobe and GP the Lakers have struggled big time. People were starting to wonder if Kobe was really a franchise type player (you could build a team around) or a very good player. Weird how he gets injured all of a sudden.. IMO he faked it to not take the blame during the losing streak. We will see how that works out.

Great post emjohn. Agree with your observations on Sac. And on Lebron.

I'd add Memphis to the 'wtf team.'

Thought the Rockets would be higher. Did not expect Utah, Denver or Memphis to even be in the race by now. (Not because of them (except Utah), but because the other West teams seemed to improve so much).
