A few "interesting" stats from tonights game:

Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley took 41 shots, while the rest of the team only took 39.

Yao Ming - only 15 minutes

    Bostjan Nachbar - DNP !

Cato - scorless with only one shot attempted (7 boards)

    Mobley - 45 minutes played

Cuttino had a horrible start shooting, going 5-15 until the meaningless fourth quarter. The Rocks had confidence in him to keep feeding him the ball so he could brick it. Why no confidence in anyone else, except EG. And EG had two horrible shooting games to start the season. I think Francis had only two assists in the second half. Awesome first half. Too many fouls or something so he sat when the Rockets collapsed and Moochie became a major scoring option. Glen Rice 1-5. Shouldn't we get a medical exception for him - he's lost his shot.

Lost his shot? After one game??

For f$%&s sake give the team some T-I-M-E before coming out with all these knee-jerk reactions. I suppose before tonight EG wasn't a shooter and is nowhere near a serious scoring option? I know, one game doesn't prove anything.. But one game also doesn't DISPROVE anything, either.

Last season EG had some really great offensive games and showed flashes of how great he can and will be. The game that really sticks out in my mind was the game against the Lakers last season. I forget the exact stats, but I think EG had something like 25 point on some ridiculous shooting% to go with double-digit boards and a few blocks as well?

Give the team (and Glen Rice) more T-I-M-E before deciding they are washed up and have lost their shot, I mean the guys just coming back from a knee injury. A part of the body a shooter requires to be functioning correctly to do their duty (ie shoot the ball!).

    Raven,

I thought Mobes probably played more minutes than needed tonight, but as the #2 option/scorer on the team when the Rockets needed points I can see why he was left in the game. However what I don't get, is why Nachbar didn't play (hopefully his hernia isn't playing up), and why Ming only got 15 minutes? Hopefully across the next couple of games, Yao can work his way up towards getting around 20 minutes a game and becoming an integral part of the offence.

Rice didn't shoot well last year before he sat out the season either. He didn't shoot well in his last season at NY. I'll concede he shoots well in the videos of Rockets practices at nba.com.

Until further notice our "Big Three" is Cat, Griff and Francis. Their numbers combined? 78 points, 19 rebounds, 12 assist, 5 blocks. Do you know the average of the "Big Three" of other teams around the league? Somewhere in the neighborhood I believe of 64 to 66 ppg. This team is learning to get everybody involved, but when you have a trio that put up those numbers in a game it's safe to say you're in great shape.
