I'm looking forward to both of these games. Looks like X-box is about to finally make a run of decent games with Halo 2, these two games, and Grand Theft Auto coming out. It's about damn time. Here are reviews so far. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/475761.asp http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/516688.asp
Yeah, I talked a little bit about Fable reviews in the gaming thread. It sounded like it was somewhat of a disappointment, or at least IMO, but the game seemed to have such high standards that even if it was disappointing, it would be a heck of a game. BTW, I don't think GTA:SA will be on the Xbox.
Wow. I've had the XBOX since the day it came out, and I thought they have had a great collection of games in it's history. Just look at last year with Deux Ex:Invisible War and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and not to mention the first Halo, some of THE best first-person shooters you could ever find, etc. I'm not big on RPGs, which is what you may have been talking about, so they may have always lacked there and I didn't know. But, I have always found their games to always be pretty impressive. From what I have read, Fable sounds pretty good and is looks like it will be amazing at all the detail and stuff you can do in it. But, I read that it is EXTREMELY hard to die and you can pretty much fly right through it pretty fast. I at least want to know when I buy a game like this, that it will be some what a challenge to where I didn't feel like I wasted by money or time.
I read the same thing about the dying part. I think I read something about the reviewer challenging anyone to die in the game. Despite the fact that it is probably very easy, I'm sure it is worth buying big time. The main quest sounds like it can be finished pretty easily, but this game isn't one where you beat it and you're done, or at least that is what I'm guessing. These types of games are probably the best as far as replayability. It may be easy to kill enemies, but you'll probably spend hours just checking things out and trying to get married and stuff like that. While I said it sounded disappointing, I said that only because they said it would be the best RPG ever and it probably won't even be the best RPG on the Xbox. That said, it should be an awesome game with plenty of play time to offer. I just wish some of the things they said would be in the game actually stayed in the game.
Like someone said, I don't think GTA will be on the XBOX for a while. And Fable should be good, but it was scaled back quite a bit from its first rather lofty expectations. A great RPG, I'm sure, but not near the revolution it was expected to be. But it'll be fun nonetheless. I mentioned KINGDOM UNDER FIRE in the gaming thread. It looks good so far, hope it lives up to the promise. I'd have to say you might be in the minority. The XBOX pickings, in terms of exclusives, were rather slim for a long time. KOTOR was great, but DE was so-so, and also out on the PC. And what other 'the best' FPS shooters do you mean, other than HALO? There really isn't anything else that comes close to being that great. Game selection was XBOX's biggest problem for a while. But luckily, it's really picked up and there should be some great stuff to play now/on the way.
The Chronical's Of Riddick is nothing short of brilliant. That would be classed as a FPS. I dont mind either way. I got my XBox just for Halo 2 and Doom 3 really. Anything that good outside of those two games is just a bonus.
if you haven't had enough games to play for atleast the last year plus on x-box then you have WAY WAY WAY too much time on your hands. selection of titles is no longer an issue. i'll probably get fable when it comes out, it looks like it will atleast be good.
I think I remember at least one of the other names, Project Ego IIRC, so I've been following it a while. I want to say I've read reports of it every so often for about 2 years or so. I don't remember how I found it, but once I found out that it was similiar to Morrowind, I had to check up on it. Strange thing is that I probably won't even play it. I was going to bash DE earlier, but I thought maybe just I didn't like it, but after Rokkit mentioned, yeah, I didn't like it. I love the 1st one a lot, but the 2nd one was very disappointing. I probably wouldn't list it as a game to get. The game selection had definitly gotten better. I remember not even caring about a Xbox, but this year, there have been some games that are Xbox exclusives that I've wanted to play, something that never really happened previous to this year. I still love my PS2 much more than the Xbox, but with Fable, Ninja Gaiden, etc., the Xbox has gotten some games that I would like to play. (IMO, Halo isn't all that great. It is ok, but it just seems like any other FPS)
If you spend 200 bucks + on a system to play one or two games for a year plus you have WAY WAY WAY too much money to throw around. There was, unfortunately, not much of anything on the xbox for the first year and a half of its existence; especially if you happened to own any other system (or a PC) at the time. I do see where you're coming from, though; MS relied heavily on hype and word of mouth to appeal to casual folks early on - those that really didn't play many actual titles - so they just heard 'xbox', saw the commercials and figured 'I guess that's the video game system that's out now.' Kudos to them; it worked and helped tremendously to get through the initial dry period. But like I said, luckily that has changed and yes, selection of titles is no longer an issue.
that's all i was saying. at the beginning and for the first year or two it was basically halo and a few other games. but at this point the x-box library has caught up and offers plenty of selection. some people still use the old "there's no games on x-box" argument when it really doesn't apply at all anymore.
Next week is going to be an awesome week for games: Call of Duty: United Offensive Madden NFL 2005 MTX Mototrax NHL 2005 ShellShock: Nam '67 Silent Storm: Sentinels The Sims 2 Torrente CAN'T WAIT!
I just wanted to pimp BURNOUT 3 a little in this thread. The demo has one track, one car and only one race but I've been playing the hell out of it every chance I get. Incredible crash physics and some strong AI seem to make for a racing game that is A) fun as hell and B) never the same race twice. I'm serious. If you like arcade racing, go out and try this game out NOW. Some reviews: Game Rankings: 94.1 % IGN: 9.5 out of 10 Gamespot: 9.5 out of 10 This game comes out today, and I can't wait to play it.
