Question for those who watched the game...

Why did Duncan perform so poorly? He was 7-21, 19 pts, 9 boards. Sure, 19 and 9 isn't bad, but he missed twice as many shots as he made.

Was KT on him mostly, or was Willis? Also, KT had 2 blocks, were they both on Duncan?

Oh yeah, Rice's defense must have been killer to have shut down that all-around offensive threat Bowen. :)

Kenny was doing a great job near the end at forcing him to catch the ball out of his comfort zone (ie: as far out as right inside the 3 point line). Though team D did play a part in containing Duncan, KT was primarily responsible for him missing his last 7 shots of the game.

Duncan also failed to get a double-double (only 9 boards) for the first time this season. Kenny and the rest of the team did a great job on him, overall.

Duncan was getting any shot he wanted, he just missed them in the 2nd half. In the first half, he seemed to be able to score at will. The Spurs as a team appeared to relax in the second half. At times, Duncan appeared content to let other players do their thing (esp. Parker). If Duncan had been serious all game, he would've put up some monster numbers.

To say Duncan just "missed his shots" is selling Thomas' defense short.

He was probably "content" because he couldn't hit a shot for a majority of the second half and decided to shy away from the offense.

    Freak,

He took 21 shots...I would say that is pretty active for a PF. Especially when you consider that he averages 16.4 shots a game. He, therefore, was more active - shot-wise - than normal.

Like I said, he was getting whatever shot he wanted, he was just missing them.

I (agonizingly) watched. I'm not sure how much or how little credit to give KT but one thing is absolutely a sure thing - KT didn't get a D**N bit of double team help from anybody!!

    sniff, sniff...Crisco smells funny.

For future reference, it should read, "your title selection of threads HAS..." the verb refers to "title selection", not "threads."

Anyway, for all involved in this thread, please allow me to ammend my title to:

"Yo, dawgs, what up with Duncan bein so whack lass night?"

    In Crisco I trust.

Actually, the verb refers to "selection", as title in this case is merely an adjective.

    :p

Anyhow, on Duncan. I agree with TheFreak, in that Duncan pretty much did whatever he wanted. He sometimes got the offensive rebound even though he was surrounded by 3 Rockets, and seemingly put on a quick clinic consisting of passes, dunks jumpers, and of course his trademark glass shot. KT was forced to front him at times, and what that did was allow Duncan to seal off KT, or Cato, and allowed his teammates easy shots in the lane, or rebounding oppurtunities. And kind of like KG in the T-Wolves game, after he dominated, he kind of put it in cruise control, and let others do the work.

Yes, I know...I just included both to avoid confusing poor Crisco. They go together.
