I've been, but admittedly it was almost 10 years ago. All I can recall is that all the traditional pubs were cool, the food was medicore, and all the hot gals hung out at trendy bars that served Budweiser (WHY GOD WHY????)

Strange story, I stayed in a hostel not too far from the Guinness Brewery (mecca for me at that point in my life)....my roommate turned out to be from Houston as well. Tiger John....he's a fairly well-known tatoo artist in the area. Small world.

My advice to you while in Ireland: go to Dingle!!!!!

very cool place, but fairly expensive these days, since the euro thing Dublin has exploded, some people call it the mini-paris because of the explosion in prices.

we stayed with an old family friend in the suburbs, which was about 30 mins on a double decker bus out from the city centre.

most B&Bs in Ireland are great, will check with my sister when i get home tonight.

if you have the time get a car and drive round ireland, we did this a just rolled up to random B&Bs whenever the end of the day rolled around, stayed in one above a pub, one by the water, one run by a very old woman.

    Ireland is amazing.

In Dublin, do the hop-on hop-off bus tour thingy, see the book of Kells, Trinity College, the Guiness and Jamison factories are very cool, Kilmarnon (sp??) Jail is amazing.

If you get out of Dublin you must see Newgrange, Cliff of Morr, Ring of kerry, Burren and sit in pubs and talk to locals and drink loads of Guiness.
