While there is no doubt Griffin is the most talented of the bunch, could it be possible that Griffin is left off the all-star rookie team beacuse of his lack of playing time. Off the top of my head, I see these as the rookies on the team: Tinsley, Parker, Gasol, Claxton, Jason Richardson, Troy Murph, Hunter, Kirilenko, Jefferson, Joe Johnson and other possibilites: Kwame Brown, The Bulls' rookies, Boumtje-Boumtje, Randolph, White, Woods and of course Torres Do you think he makes it?
You forgot Battier, he is doing quite well since his move to SG. As things stand now, I think Griffin, Kwame, Curry and Chandler are longshots. Of course, things change. Collins, however, is saying Brown's minutes will be even more reduced.
Rebraca also deserves serious consideration. He is averaging over 8 pts per game (10th among rookies; 1st per 48 minutes), is shooting .556 from the floor (1st among rookies), gets 5 boards a game (4th among rookies; 2nd per 48 minutes), and one block (3rd among rookies; 5th per 48 minutes). And he is the only true center on one of the surprise teams of the league. As of today, Griffin probably doesn't make it. By the end of the year, though, I think he has a good chance to be the dominant big man of the rookie class.
Battier is an obvious pick, my appologies. just as a side note, Brendan Haywood has been injured but looked amazing in the preseason, look for him to put up nice rookie numbers as well
Does anyone here actually think that Griffin won't be the starter over KT, who is playing well but is still too short, and WIllis, who will wear down or remain average to below average? by the end of the season, barring a Mo Taylor mid season surprise return, Griffin will be the starter, and he best PF of the bunch.
I agree Sane by the end of the year, Griffin's stats over the last 20 games should rival any other rookies. Unfortuantely the rookie game is at all-star break.
