Since we have a lot of overseas fans on this board, I thought I would see if someone on here know of some good expatriot jobs in Shanghai. Would appreciate any help...

    Here is some info..

    - I will be getting my MBA from the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University) in June 05

    - Prior work experience includes: M&A Advisor for a Fortune 500 company, Investment Banking Associate and Business Development for Tech Startup

    - I am pretty opened as to what I do. Working in China is my top priority. I prefer opportunities in Venture Capital, Investment Banking as well as Strategic Business Development

    - I am a US citizen but can speak Mandarin

    Thx everyone

Impressive resume. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a job.

Shanghai is an amazing city. Kinda like the New York City of the East. That city never sleeps and the nightlife is great.

Anyways, the finance sector is pretty big I imagine. You could land a job at the Dell China Design Center (CDC). I know we've been looking to hire procurement guys in China.

The banks there need some help and have been hiring lots of consultants to clean up old messes. Get a few years under your belt and you should be able to land in any area you like. i'd suggest trying for some of the bigwig consulting firms for a few years to get the experience.

word of caution though, any market with a smell of profits attracts chinese and foreigners like crazy and will quickly become convoluted. Negotiating with mainland business people will also be the most strenuous, draining and difficult experience one can have. If you can't deal with people being too pushy, stubborn and who lack proper business experience and etiquitte, you may want to take a gander into taipei or HK where competition is less of a frenzy, salaries are higher (so are living expenses) and there is a more civilized business world. IMHO, and with three years of china under my belt, China will be huge but is currently overrated and full with hungry sharks.
