Okay, okay, I know they're "ram tough" but are they any good really?

Due to our "accident" http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23836 we got a Durango from the rental place...I Love It but it is a 2002, and hasn't had time to screw up or fall apart....so are they any good...long term? would you buy one?

pretty broad topic for a Thursday.:D

Well, I had a 98 Ram 1500 for a few years, and it worked fine at first. But about halfway through it started idling rather rough, and little things began to cause problems - electronics, windows, seat adjustment - here and there. This was with regular tune-ups/oil changes/trips to the dealer, etc.

Eventually the compressor gave out - something I later heard was a problem with Dodges around that time.

I'm hoping that it was just a matter of getting a bad one, because at first I really loved everything about it. But who knows...

2001 RAM. It's a gas guzzler. Gets 11 mpg in the city and 20 on the highway. Pay no attention to what the sticker says. Great truck though.

    cson,

I'm sorry to hear about the car. That's some bad luck.

As for a truck, go get SCrewed. You won't forget it.

SCrewed, as in Ford F-150 SuperCrew.

I recently purchased one, and it's the best ride I've ever purchased. It's as smooth as an Altima I once had, and as versatile as my old Jeep. Plus, it's sweet looking.
Let me know if you have any questions about it.

Have you looked into a Toyota Tundra?

My Dad has a Dodge pickup as his work truck, but his wife also drives a Tundra.

He hasn't had many complaints with the Dodge, after driving Chevys for years and years, but they both love the Toyota.

I, myself, want to eventually get a Sequoia (the Toyota full-sized SUV). But, right now the towing capacity is too low. Hopefully, by the time I can afford one, they'll catch up to the other full sized SUVs in terms of towing.
