If I want to output sound to my TV, right now my PC is hooked up to TV, and it's awesome. But I was wondering if the built in soundcard (with the traditional audio to normal pc speakers) can actually be outputed to the TV's AV in (i.e. some cable to do the conversion) or do I need to buy a new sound card with those AV out plugs?

Also, what's the average life of a HDTV? Mine's a Sanyo so I'm not expecting a lot, but it'd be nice to know.

there is a cheaper method. go buy the cables to output an ipod to your home stereo system. they run 12 bucks or so. then plug that into the headphone connector on your pc and input into your stereo. then you've got surround sound.
