    I killed my D70



    Well, it's dead. I killed it. No more photos for me for a while. Nikon repair gods please be quick!

    My shutter finally died. After 3 months and 5 days and 119,457 photos. All I get now when I hit the shutter button now is a very quiet clicking noise - and the Err message. I looked inside my camera and the black shutter cloth is covering the CCD. I guess that means my shutter is dead?

    I guess I can't complain too much. (But I was starting to think I might get as many photos out of my D70 as I did from some of my P&S digitals.)

    But the good news is that those of you who take a "normal" number of photos can reasonably expect that your D70 should last for at least 100,000 photos before the shutter goes.

    Now what I am going to do with myself now that I can't spend all my time taking pictures?

    That's a crazy number of pics. It would be like a running photo diary of your every waking moment.

    Here's my feet when I woke up.
    Here's my wife pissed that I took her picture at 7am.
    Here are my slippers.
    Here's my shower.

    Bet there wasn't a good photo in the bunch. He'd have to take pictures at such a rate that he couldn't be worried about lighting, Fstops, not to mention photo composition.

    If you are going to take that many pics you might as well just use a video camera.

    And you should have bought a Canon. :)

    You'd be surprised... If you take enough pictures, you're bound to get lucky and get a few good shots in there. And there were a few good ones.

    Although the one where the dog is taking a crap probably shouldn't have been posted...
