When you think about it, for the last 4 decades, the x5/x6 season was always one where we didn’t meet our expectations, after having high expectations before season started. 95/96 - proud b2b champs. True, MJ was back and would probably beat us in finals, but getting swept in the 2nd round by the Supersonics was pretty painful.. I think that this sweep is one of the reasons some haters claim that if it wasn’t for the Nuggets upset in the 94 playoff, we wouldn’t win this championship as we would not pass the Sonics in western finals. 05/06 - second year of MinGrady. One of the things we missed in the 04/05 campaign was a fearless forward that would complete the TMac and Yao duo. So we signed S.Swift in the sumner and everyone thought that we would become the nightmare of that league. Eventually Yao and Tmac suffered from on-and-off injuries all season long, Swift never really adjusted or managed to be developed to be more than an athletic freak, and we missed the playoffs. 15/16 - after we finished 2nd in the wast and Harden 2nd to mvp votes, despite that Dwight Howard missed half season due to back injuries, we got Tye Lawson as pg - a position that was only filled by Beverly - who was good on guarding the other pg’s but not on running offense, and aging JT and Prigioni - that gave us a hell of a playoff run, but we couldn’t build on them to lead us for a chip. Eventually.. Lawson was on a free-fall out of this league, Howard was in a really bad shape, and we could only get 8 spot seed and a 1-4 exit vs Warriors in the 1st round. I don’t think I should expand about our current season, we have a LOT of threads dealing with it. I just wish we can get rid of this curse.. I don’t know, maybe by the playoffs things will get better? If we even reach it.. Have a nice weekend everybody!
